A downlight is like a mini ceiling panel – wide beam (60°–120°), providing uniform general illumination. A spotlight acts like a focused “torch” – narrow beam (15°–45°), precisely accenting specific areas and creating “mountain-shaped” wall-washing effects.

For downlights, Ra ≥ 80 is sufficient. For spotlights, Ra ≥ 90 is mandatory. For artwork illumination, go for Ra ≥ 97 to avoid colour distortion.

15°–24° – ideal for small decorative objects and paintings, highlighting details. 36°–50° – good for wall-washing and larger area accent lighting. 50°+ – similar to a downlight, suitable for general area fill.

Generally 20–30 cm. If less than 10 cm, the light will be over-exposed and create harsh hotspots.

Living room – 10W–12W for even distribution. Bedroom – 7W with warm white (3000K–3500K) for a cosy atmosphere. Kitchen – 10W–12W with neutral white (4000K). Aim for 100–200 lumens per square metre.
